Isak and some of the other kids were found living in the open field close to Menlyn, The Pretoria news and SPITS TV reported on these children. Many people wanted to adopt Isak after seeing the young blond boy and several of his friends, on TV, huddled up at a big fire, to protedt themselves from the winter cold

2002 the kids had a roof over their heads. It was not wonderful, there were too many children (34) and too little space, yet they did not sleep huddled around a fire fuelled by cardboard, rubber, plastic and anything flammable, they slept on mattresses and army blankets. 

We were feeding them twice a week and the rest of the time the begged at the Menlyn robots. Whenever I saw them they were high on glue, dope or under the influence of alcohol. they lacked care, but they were not hungry.
